AEC Management & Administration team
Our management team all hold specialist
qualifications, some up to Masters and Doctorate level, in various fields
including Teacher Education, Business Management, and a number of other
subjects. Staff are also competent in a variety of languages, including Korean,
Japanese, Cantonese and Mandarin, Thai, Dutch, French and Spanish. This
facilitates smooth student management and excellent pastoral care. |

Esther Lim, Director of Studies MA in TESOL(Sheffield), ATCL, Dip Divinity
Esther was a staffworker with Scripture Union Sarawak and a lecturer at the Malaysia Evangelical College after her training with the Bible College of New Zealand. Later, she turned her attention to teaching ESL. She trained in TESOL through Trinity College London and Sheffield Hallam University. She was with the Swinburne University of Technology in East Malaysia as an English lecturer before she moved to Auckland in 2003. She has extensive experience with students of varied cultures and has been teaching English for 15 years. |

Joanne Forde has a varied cross cultural background, having lived and worked in France and Algeria. She¡¯s been teaching ESOL for 5 years at different levels and enjoys encouraging students in all aspects of life as well as in English. |

Johanna Bissett has taught English for many years and has also helped train ESOL teachers. She has spent considerable time overseas and is passionate about helping students to have a rewarding and worthwhile English learning experience while in NZ. |

Shane Chubb has a broad educational experience and has been teaching English for over 4 years. He enjoys coordinating student activities and exposing the students to the New Zealand experience. |

Sylvia Edwin is passionate about teaching English and adopts a personal approach to assist students learn and use the language. Her expertise is in the lower levels where she uses innovative and creative methods in teaching English. |

Gina Stradwick has been a secondary school teacher for 20 years and an ESOL teacher for 6 years. She has a very personal approach to teaching which brings out the students¡¯ personality linked to their language. Very competent at teaching all levels of English and all ages, she encourages students to enjoy learning and practising English because of her bright and positive attitude. |

Dan Stradwick has been a Church pastor for 25 years and has been teaching ESL for 6 years. He is a good communicator and presenter of English especially in higher levels. IELTS is his special field and he is currently teaching this class. He is a competent musician and encourages students to sing in English whenever possible. He encourages humour as a positive learning tool. |

Faye Angelo has 15 years¡¯ teaching experience both in New Zealand and China, and has extensive experience as an IELTS examiner. She is passionate about people and crossing the cultural divide. |

Joan Houghton has been teaching English for 17 years. She has taught English in Hong Kong, Japan and the Philippines. She enjoys teaching and meeting people from many cultures. |

AEC Teaching Staff
All teaching staff hold the highly regarded
British Council Qualifications in English Language teaching (CELTA or TESOL) in
addition to their other academic qualifications and many years of
experience.
Staff come from a variety of countries, including
New Zealand, Holland, South Africa, Singapore, Britain, and the USA, ensuring
students gain experience listening to a wide variety of accents.Many staff also
have a number of years experience living and working in a foreign culture and
language, so we are well equipped to help students with the challenges of cross
cultural adjustment.
As a team we are committed to professional
excellence in both education and pastoral care of our students, and ensure all
staff regularly participate in professional development, to keep our standards
at the highest possible level.Outside the classroom many staff are involved in
the weekly student social and spiritual programmes, providing good opportunities
to practice conversation and build friendships. |

AEC IELTS Team
Our highly experienced IELTS team have developed
an excellent course which equips our students with the necessary skills to
achieve the best possible result. Classes are available at two levels, depending
on the result required. Our Academic preparation class also ensures that
students have both the knowledge and vocabulary required to cope with the
complex materials of the IELTS exam. We are constantly working on developing and
updating materials to meet the needs of all our students. Our team of highly
trained professionals includes 2 IELTS examiners, and staff make themselves
available to assist students with self-study programmes and extra private
tuition if needed. We also offer regular testing, appraisal and evaluation to
all our students so that they can take the IELTS exam confidently and attain the
scores they deserve. |
